5. Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies.

We and third parties may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect information about you, your device, and how you interact with the Services, including the following:

  • Cookies. Cookies store a small amount of information on a user’s device when they visit a website. They are used, for example, to recognize a user when they visit the website and remember their preferences.
  • Pixels. Pixels, web beacons, and tags are transparent graphics inserted invisibly into a website or email. Unlike cookies, pixels, web beacons, and tags are not stored on a user’s device. They are used, for example, to count visits and understand interactions with websites and emails.
  • Session replay tools. Session replay tools record your interactions with our Services, such as how you move throughout our Services and engage with our webforms. They are used, for example, to help us improve our Services and identify and fix technical issues visitors may be having with our Services.
  • Embedded scripts and SDKs. Embedded scripts and SDKs allow us to build and integrate custom apps and experiences on our Digital Properties.

We use cookies and other tracking technologies for several purposes, including to personalize the Services, understand how visitors use our Services and to improve the functionality and features of our Services, conduct advertising and content personalization on our Services and those of third parties, track activity over time and across properties to develop a profile of your interests and advertise to you based on those interests (“interest-based advertising”); provide you with offers and online content that may be of interest to you, measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and our communications with you, including identifying how and when you engage with one of our emails, and preventing fraud and malicious behavior.

We use Google Analytics to help track the use of our Services. To learn more about how Google Analytics collects and processes your Personal Information, please visit www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners.

Some of the third parties we work with participate with the Digital Advertising Alliance ("DAA") and Network Advertising Initiative ("NAI"). The DAA and NAI provide mechanisms for you to opt out of interest-based advertising performed by participating members at http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ and https://optout.networkadvertising.org/. We adhere to the DAA’s Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising. You may also click on the AboutAds icon on a Company advertisement and follow the instructions on how to opt out.

You can also refuse or delete cookies using your browser settings. If you refuse or delete cookies, some of our Services’ functionality may be impaired. Please refer to your browser’s Help instructions to learn more about how to manage cookies and the use of other tracking technologies. If you change computers, devices, or browsers; use multiple computers, devices, or browsers; or delete your cookies, you may need to repeat this process for each computer, device, or browser. Opting out of interest-based advertising will not opt you out of all advertising, but rather only interest-based advertising from us or our agents or representatives.

6. Do Not Track Signals.

Web browsers often allow you to send a “Do Not Track” request with your browsing traffic to signal your request to not have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. We do not currently honor Do Not Track requests from web browsers.

7. Data Security.

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical steps to protect the Personal Information in our possession. However, we cannot guarantee complete security. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors, may compromise the security of user information at any time.  We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the website.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We encourage you not to share your password with anyone. We also urge you to be careful about giving out information in public areas of the website like message boards. The information you share in public areas may be viewed by any user of the website.

8. Data Retention.

We retain Personal Information for as long as is needed to fulfill the purposes described above. For example, we may retain Personal Information to provide you products and services, improve our operations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. To determine the length of time for which we will retain Personal Information, we will consider the volume and sensitivity of the Personal Information, the purposes for which we collect and use the Personal Information, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

9. Your Choices.

  • Modification or Deletion of Information. You may access, and, in some cases, edit or delete your name, password, and phone number through your account settings. The Personal Information you can view, update, and delete may change over time. You may also request that we delete your account and your data from the Services by contacting us. You understand that if we remove your Personal Information after you submit a request, you may be unable to utilize the Services. You may not request the removal of de-identified, anonymous, or aggregate data from our databases.
  • Email Communications. If you registered for an account in connection with your use of the Services, you can opt out of future mailings by updating the preferences in your account.  Opting-out of email communications does not mean we will not contact you about your account.
  • Voice Calls, Texts and SMS Messages. You may have the opportunity to receive occasional voice, text, and SMS messages from us to receive updates on our products and services, or about products and services that we think may be of interest to you. Message frequency will vary. As we are located in the United States, international rates may apply depending on your location. We may disclose your mobile phone number to service providers with whom we contract in order to send you automated text messages, but we will not disclose your mobile phone number to third parties for their own marketing purposes without your express consent.  Opting out of calls, texts and SMS messages does not mean we will not contact you about your account.

10. Children’s Privacy.

We do not knowingly collect Personal Information directly from children without first obtaining verifiable parental consent. If a child is under the age of 13, the child may use the Services only with the consent of or under the supervision of the parent or legal guardian, or as otherwise permitted under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). Consistent with the principles underlying COPPA, if we learn that we have received any information directly from a child under age 13 without first receiving his or her parent’s verified consent, we will use that information only to respond directly to that child (or his or her parent or legal guardian) to inform the child that he or she cannot use the Service and subsequently we will delete that information. If you believe we might have collected any information from or about a child under age 13 without parental consent, please contact us at support@herojourney.club and indicate “Under 13” in the Subject field.

Parents may send an email to support@herojourney.club to request access to, correct or delete any Personal Information that we maintain about you or your child. We will do our best to accommodate your request as long as we believe the change would not violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

If you are a Nevada resident, you have the right to opt out of the sale of certain Personal Information, including your name and mailing address, to third parties. Please note, however, that Hero Journey Club does not sell your Personal Information.

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of Personal Information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared Personal Information in the immediately preceding calendar year. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please submit your request in writing to us using the contact information provided at the end of this Privacy Notice. Please note, however, that Hero Journey Club does not disclose your Personal Information to any third party for their direct marketing purposes.

We are based in the United States. No matter where you are located, you acknowledge that your Personal Information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. You acknowledge that the laws of the U.S. and other countries governing data collection and use may not be as comprehensive or protective as the laws of the country where you live.

The Services may contain links to other websites or online services (“Third-Party Websites”) and articles, photographs, text, graphics, pictures, designs, music, sound, video, information, applications, software, and other content or items belonging to or originating from third parties (“Third-Party Content”). Please note that Third-Party Websites and Third-Party Content are not monitored, or checked for accuracy, appropriateness, or completeness by us, are not under our control, and we are not responsible for any Third-Party Websites or Third-Party Content. Inclusion of, linking to, or permitting the use or installation of any Third-Party Websites or any Third-Party Content does not imply approval or endorsement thereof by us.
